Commissioned by pianist Ron Levy, Prelude for Peace and Justice was written in honor of the lives lost in Bucha, Ukraine in March of 2022. The work begins with a haunting undulation that weaves its way throughout the work, eventually blossoming into a prayer for hope at the climax. The tonic shift from minor to major represents the call for peace and justice for those lost while the haunting undulation reflects upon the memories unforgotten.
